Time :
So much to do and so little time. Sound familiar?? Too many lists? Too many obligations to others or the household!
Here are some tips that might help you manage your time, and allow more creative time slots :
Know what you want to accomplish and make sure that what you are doing is in support of that goal.
Prioritise – of all the things you have to do to get where you want to be – what is the most important? What is the next most important thing to do? This is where you have to be objective – take any “shoulds” out of the decision process when choosing the order of importance.
NO – go on say it ….. again. Practice saying no – do not add any justifications to the ‘no’ word – just say … NO. Have faith that whoever you are saying the NO word to will work things out for themselves.
Make a plan – draw up a schedule, add creative dates for sewing, add a time for ideas to go into the sketchbook or journal, add scheduled time for : cooking, eating, napping, walking or exercise. Use the schedule as a framework to work with to accomplish your goals bit by bit.
Tell the distractions in the house that this time is for you to get things done – you will be able to spend quality time with the distractions later. This includes closing the door and hanging a do not disturb sign from the door-knob.
Give other people some of the jobs that are taking up your time – delegate. Allow others to be responsible for more, to learn what has to happen for a household or life to run smoothly. Allow them to learn being ‘responsible’.
VERY IMPORTANT : Be gentle with yourself! Take care of yourself and schedule time for caring for you. Take time for a bubble bath, observing nature, looking for and putting words to colour or the noise of the wind in your ears or bird calls.
Let me know how you go! 🙂 Leave a comment if you wish, I would love to hear from you.
